Stephen Glascock

President, Managing Partner 
Finance and Construction

Steve founded Anbau in 1998 based on the vision that “good design makes good business”. He currently oversees finance and construction for all Anbau projects. He has been active in real estate development in Manhattan for 25 years. Prior to Anbau, Steve was Senior Development Officer of Continuum Company. He was responsible for the development of the 101-unit Richmond Condominiums, located on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. He also spent five years as Senior Project Manager at a New York City-based construction management company, building over 100 units of subsidized housing on the Lower East Side.

Steve holds a BA in Environmental Design from the University of Colorado, a M.Arch from the University of Pennsylvania and a M.S. in Real Estate Development from Columbia University. He sits on the advisory board of the Center for Urban Real Estate at Columbia and the board of the International Yacht Restoration.

Barbara van Beuren

Managing Director 
Acquisitions, Design & Marketing

Barbara joined Anbau in 2002.  She manages the acquisitions team as well as oversees design, marketing and sales. Prior to Anbau she was founding partner of a New York architecture firm specializing in residential design and was a project designer at Dagit-Saylor Architects in Philadelphia. Barbara took a four-year hiatus from architecture to be executive director of her family’s foundation. The van Beuren Charitable Foundation focuses on land use, land conservation and historic preservation.

Barbara holds a B.A. in History from Tufts University, a M.Arch from the University of Pennsylvania and an M.B.A. from the Stern School of Business at New York University. She's on the PennDesign Board of Overseers and the Board of Directors of Grow Smart Rhode Island. Barbara is a licensed architect.
 
 
 
 

Steven J. Gorey

Chief Financial Officer

Steve Gorey joined Anbau in 2016. Previous to Anbau, Steve was managing director and COO of GTIS Partners LP, where he managed operations, finance, HR, technology and compliance; a CRE Team Leader of Bankruptcy Estate, and a Senior Vice President and Lead Underwriter of the Principal Transactions Group at Lehman Brothers, where he underwrote $690MM in closed production volume; and a Vice President of Risk Management and Asset Management of Trimont Real Estate Advisors, where he was asset manager and underwriter for five residential high rise and single family developments.

Steve holds an M.B.A. from NYU Stern School of Business, and a B.S. in Business Administration from Manhattan College.

Arvind Bajaj

Chief Investment Officer

Arvind joined Anbau in 2015. He is responsible for managing the firm’s acquisition activities as well as investor and capital relationships.  Prior to Anbau, Arvind served as head of the New York City office of Madison Marquette, making investments in Long Island City, Williamsburg and Hunts Point. He has also invested in Brooklyn rent-stabilized and market rate multi-family assets.   Previously, Arvind has held senior commercial real estate positions with Blackstone, Credit Suisse and Morgan Stanley in both New York City and London, and is a dual citizen of the United States and United Kingdom.

Arvind holds a B.A. and M.B.A. degree through Vanderbilt University’s 5-year joint program.

Dermot Johnson

Director of Development & Construction

Dermot joined Anbau in 2015.  He leads, oversees, and manages existing and new projects. Dermot is responsible for ensuring that Anbau’s developments are built on-budget, on-schedule, safely, and with the highest regard to quality. He works closely with the Principals to establish policies, programs, and procedures for managing each development and construction phase. Prior to joining Anbau, Dermot worked in NYC as the VP of Design and Construction for AECOM Capital, the Director of Construction for Credit Suisse and Director of Project Management for Time Equities. Previously to this Dermot has worked in the construction industry in the Caribbean, London, UK and Australia.

Dermot holds a B.Sc. in Construction Management from Queensland University of Technology and a M.S. in Real Estate Development from Columbia University. He is also a member of the RICS.

James Treacy

Director of Design & Development

James joined Anbau in 2003. He is responsible for the design and all legal aspects of predevelopment.  He oversees project zoning, entitlements, approvals and expediting as well as third party design and construction consultants. He works closely with the construction project managers to ensure that project budget and quality meets Anbau standards. Prior to Anbau James was a Project Manager at Solomon Cordwell Buenz and Legit in Chicago, and a Design Architect for The Phillips Group in their New York and London offices.

James holds a B. Arch from the University of Notre Dame. He is a licensed architect.
